To Perform; Take Time Out

Fuel_GaugeWhen you drive your car there is a fuel gauge that lets you know how much fuel you have left in the tank. In some cars there is a flashing light or it tells you "you have 45km left to go". Then you know you need to stop and refuel. You also know after 30,000km, or what your car manual tells you, your car needs a day in the garage to get the oil changed, water topped up, perhaps the tyres renewed. Again you may have information flashing up on your screen telling you to do these things.
What about you? What lets you know it is time to stop to refuel? Or you need to take time to "change your oil"? Because taking that time out is valuable for your performance and your health.
The way to achieve maximum performance is surprisingly to take sufficient breaks from the job at hand. You stay fresh creative & flexible.
Interesting.....
Suggestion alert!

For the next month experiment with:
Let go and ree-laax

Take 15 minutes to half an hour, at a time most useful for you.
What you could choose to do?
  • Go for a walk and enjoy the scenery, the scent of the flowers, the feeling of the sun on your face and the smooth feeling in your joints and muscles.
  • Sit back in your chair, close your eyes, focus your attention inwards on your breathing, with each breath you breath out, let any muscle tension drain away until you are totally relaxed
  • Notice your feet, your legs, tummy & back, shoulders wrists & hands, your neck, jaw & your scalp as you find it easy to let each and all go, so you reeee-laaaax.
How do you think either or both of these would work for you?
At the end of the day, check in with yourself, ask yourself some questions:
  • When were you performing most effectively?
  • When is the most beneficial time for you to stop?
  • What can you do more of to make it even more effective?
  • What can you do differently the next time?
  • Overall where is your performance level now?
Just experiment, play with it and discover what happens. I'd love to know.....
Have fun and enjoy
